1. the process of using a ceramic powder mixed with water to surround a glass-ceramic casting. The purpose of the procedure is to prevent distortion and limit the shrinkage of the casting 2. with reference to the physics of threaded unions, localized plastic deformation which occurs in screw threads or the mated components when applying preload.
